What is an Offer?

An Offer is the Buyer’s structured proposal to take over a specific event opportunity.

Written by Petr Ulrich

An Offer is the Buyer’s structured proposal to take over a specific event opportunity.

It is made against a fixed Deal Specification and states:

  • the price the Buyer is offering to pay the Seller; and

  • any additional conditions the Buyer wants to include.

Submitting an Offer does not by itself complete the Transfer.

Why is the Deal Specification important?

The Deal Specification fixes the deal baseline the Buyer is making the Offer against.

That keeps two things separate and clear:

  • the Deal Specification defines the event arrangements being considered; and

  • the Offer defines what the Buyer is proposing for that deal, including the offered price and any additional conditions.

This means the Seller can evaluate a clearly defined proposal rather than reconstructing the Buyer’s position from DealRoom conversations.

Can I change an Offer after submitting it?

Once the Seller has accepted the Offer, the Buyer can no longer change or withdraw it.

The accepted Offer remains the Buyer’s proposal for that Transfer while the relevant Vendors consider whether to approve the Transfer of their services.

If a required Vendor refuses the Transfer and that proposed Transfer does not proceed, the Buyer can decide whether to submit a new Offer.

Why this matters

Once an Offer is accepted by the Seller, the Seller and relevant Vendors may spend time reviewing and acting on that proposal.

Keeping the accepted Offer fixed gives everyone a clear proposal to work from and avoids unnecessary work caused by later Buyer changes.

What to do next

Before submitting an Offer, review the Deal Specification carefully.

Choose the price you are prepared to pay and include any conditions that are important to you.

Make sure you are comfortable with the Offer before you submit it, because once the Seller accepts it, you cannot change or withdraw that Offer.
